Miracle Hunts

I Never Thought I'd Get to Hunt

For as long as I can remember, I've loved the outdoors.

I'd watch hunting shows, read magazines about whitetails, and dream about sitting in a deer stand someday. But living with a physical disability meant that many of those dreams always felt just out of reach.

Simple things that most hunters take for granted—walking through the woods, climbing into a tree stand, or crossing rough terrain—weren't possible for me.

Over time, I convinced myself that hunting was something I would only ever watch from a distance.

Then I heard about Whitetail Miracles.

From my very first conversation with their team, I realized this wasn't just another hunting ranch.

They weren't asking what I couldn't do. They wanted to know what they could do to make the experience possible. That simple difference changed everything.

When my family and I arrived, we were welcomed with smiles, warm handshakes, and genuine kindness. We shared lunch together, learned about the mission of Whitetail Miracles, and spent time talking about faith, family, and our love for the outdoors.

No one rushed us. No one made me feel different. They simply treated me like any other hunter.

Before heading into the field, my guide carefully explained the afternoon's plan. Every detail had already been considered—from transportation to the hunting location to making sure I was comfortable in the blind. I could tell they had put a tremendous amount of thought into making this experience safe, enjoyable, and accessible.

As we settled into the blind, I couldn't stop smiling.

For years, I had imagined what this moment would feel like.

Now I was actually there.

The woods were quiet except for birds singing and leaves moving gently in the breeze. We talked about deer, family, and life as we watched the afternoon unfold.

It wasn't long before several deer appeared. Watching them move naturally through God's creation was incredible. Then, just before sunset, a mature buck stepped into the clearing.

My guide looked at me with a smile and quietly said, "This is your moment."

With his calm encouragement, I took a deep breath and focused. When the opportunity presented itself, I made the shot. The excitement that followed is something I'll never forget.

As we approached the deer together, I found myself overwhelmed with emotion.

Not because of the antlers. Not because of the photographs.

But because something I had believed was impossible had just become a reality.

Back at the lodge, everyone celebrated together. We shared stories over dinner, laughed about the day's events, and thanked God for the incredible experience we had shared.

Later that evening, one of the volunteers said something that has stayed with me ever since.

He said, "We hope today reminded you that limitations don't define your potential."

Those words meant more to me than he could have known.

Whitetail Miracles didn't just give me the opportunity to harvest a whitetail.

They gave me confidence. They gave me independence. They gave me memories my family and I will treasure forever.

Most importantly, they reminded me that God's blessings are available to everyone.

The deer now displayed in my home will always remind me of an unforgettable hunt.

But what I treasure even more is the feeling I experienced that day.

For a few precious hours, I wasn't thinking about my disability. I wasn't thinking about the challenges I face every day. I was simply a hunter enjoying God's creation.

To everyone who supports Whitetail Miracles, thank you.

Because of your generosity, people like me are given opportunities we once believed were impossible.

You don't just open the gate to a hunting ranch. You open the door to hope, confidence, friendship, and unforgettable memories.

That is a gift I'll carry with me for the rest of my life.
